I have three photo libraries that are 250GB combined and I do add a couple dozen photos every other week. That partly explains why these processes are busy. I understand. WebDec 16, 2015 · View the photo(s) on my iPhone -- even just popping into and out of the app is enough to ensure the sync process has started. Return to my MBP, and the photo(s) appear there, usually within 2 minutes. The syncing of the photo on OS X corresponds with the process photolibraryd jumping to the top of my process list, as viewed in Activity Monitor.

I have around 40k images on my library on my icloud thats been synced with all my devices, and all been indexed a while ago, but the Photolibraryd is somehow still writing a lot of data to my disc, without me even opening the photo gallery on my mac.
WebJul 4, 2024 · Go into → System Preferences → iCloud → Photos Options… and uncheck iCloud Photo Library . Reboot if you want to be safe, though it shouldn’t be necessary. Launch Photos with ⌥ opt -click. Click Create New… and name your new Photos Library . Go into Photos → Preferences → General and click Use as System Photo Library .
